maya ganur-lenger and yuri novikov found their jobs at interbit via the jobnet site.
maya, 28, arrived at interbit upon completing a bachelor’s degree in special education and was hired four months ago as a training coordinator and client portfolio manager.
says maya:
“before i arrived at interbit i ran a jewelry store for several years, where i was involved in recruiting and training employees. after finishing my degree i got married, traveled abroad and came back to israel. when i got back i started looking for work while i was still managing the store. i had some involvement in the field of computers, since four years ago i worked at jacada, and in general i am very taken up by computers.”
yuri, 34, made aliya from the ukraine in the year 2000. in the ukraine he earned a master’s degree in energetics, specializing in heat and cold engineering. two months ago yuri was hired as a java developer at interbit.
yuri recalls:
“before i came to israel i wasn’t involved in the computer field. when i arrived here i realized there was no demand for my field and i began looking for jobs in other fields. in israel i took a programming course sponsored by the employment ministry, and became certified in sun and java. i looked for work in the field, but couldn’t find a job. that was a really difficult period when the high-tech bubble burst and people without experience weren’t getting hired. left with no alternative i took odd jobs. during this period i studied a bit on my own and underwent a second program as a sun programmer. again i looked for work and couldn’t find any. in 2004 i began traveling to the ukraine to acquire experience in programming. in the ukraine i found work right away. i worked there as a developer for two years and then two months ago i came back and started looking for a job right away.”

on the job-search process:
maya: “the job-search process took two months. looking for work is a part-time job at least. ninety-nine percent of the searching process i did through the jobnet site. i got to know the site through friends and through my husband. during this period jobnet was my home site. i think it’s an excellent site. i got hired at interbit for a job in sales, managing a big client’s portfolio. meanwhile i created a new position – our training and courses coordinator. i now split my time between coordinating our courses, some of which are open to the public and some of which are by special order, and managing the client portfolio i’m in charge of.”
yuri: “i was familiar with jobnet from my previous job-search experiences. when i came back to israel i immediately entered the site and began to search. i used only jobnet. as far as i was considered it was clear the job-search process in the field of high-tech was only through jobnet or through friends. when i entered the site my main intention was to do a survey to check out conditions in the job market. as a java person i entered the word “java” and got 100 results, from which i selected the first ten companies and sent them my resume. i got calls from all ten companies. i went to four interviews and four tests and interbit was the first to snatch me up. i came here for an interview, took a test and two days later i had a meeting with the ceo. another two days later i had already started working. the entire process took about a week.”
interbit was founded in 1995 as a java training center.
today interbit is a subsidiary of the e&m consulting group and operates as its software branch, since e&m focuses primarily on hardware. interbit’s specialties include java, linux and php. the company runs a training center for these fields and also operates as a software house in the field of consulting and development. interbit has several dozen employees. it’s a small company which on one hand has the economic and operational backing of a large company, e&m, which has 200 employees, and on the other hand functions as a small, family-style company.
on the hiring and integration process at the company:
yuri: “i was very well received here. it’s a small, family-style operation and people have been really nice to me. i work as a java developer and hope to become an instructor one day. i’m working on an interesting project, on an interesting system and i’m really happy here.”
maya: “the hiring process at interbit was very fast. after a few interviews i came in to sign a contract and that same day i stayed at the company for a few hours. the transition period was very quick and before long i knew how to handle my job. i had a whole lot of new things to learn and it’s always interesting and challenging. the hiring process at interbit was very pleasant. the people here are really nice and the atmosphere is good. there are a lot of very high-caliber people here who are always willing to help, giving me advice and helping me advance. it’s fun and interesting and the job terms are good.
on work at interbit:
maya: “my work here is very interesting, challenging and dynamic. i love the dynamism, doing lots of things at the same time and making things happen. in my work as training coordinator i manage the entire process, from the moment an order is placed until the course takes place, making it as good as it can be. i’m very thorough by nature and this work suits me well and is a pleasure for me.”
yuri: “the work here is interesting and not too hard compared to the ukraine. the people here are both developers and instructors, so they have very good command of the field and know not only how to develop, but also how to teach. the range of expertise here is very broad, so i can get instruction relevant to every problem i encounter. i’m really happy here.”
in conclusion, chagit kirshner-shalom, the company’s human resources manager, adds:
“jobnet is the main source from which we receive resumes. i came to interbit through jobnet, too. when we recruit directly, not through a placement company, in most cases we recruit through the jobnet site.”
