why did you decide to look for a new job after 18 years at your previous firm?
“after 18 years at the same organization i was looking for a change of pace, a job that would bring out my professional abilities and my strengths as a person. i did have reservations and concerns, but after much hesitation i notified my managers of my intentions of leaving and started to send out my resume. i wanted to improve my job terms and salary and i wanted to advance to a managerial position that was challenging, dynamic and offered a broader range of responsibilities.”
where did you send your resume to?
“i sent my resume mostly to job-search websites. since i was working at a large company in a comfortable position, the search process took a considerable amount of time and i allowed myself to be selective and not compromise by taking the first job that came my way.”
which considerations did you take into account?
“i sent my resume out for positions suitable for my experience in the fields of computer-related logistics and purchasing. i focused on jobs that would allow me independence and freedom to choose and in which i could stand out and demonstrate my abilities, with management placing full trust in me. among other channels i sent my resume out through the jobnet site and often got replies regarding a number of positions.”
why did you wind up choosing informat systems?
“a few days after sending my resume i was contacted by an informat representative calling me in for a meeting with the ceo and the human resources manager. during the interview i felt a click right away. our conversation flowed, was down to earth and i immediately felt i was speaking with people on a high level technologically. also, they knew me through suppliers at my previous job and were impressed with the amount of know-how i’d accumulated over the years. i liked the idea of working in purchasing within the world of computers, and when i left the interview we came to a joint conclusion to work together.”
how did your first days at the company go?
“i was taken in by the company very warmly. because i arrived with a wealth of experience and extensive background acquired at a large company, i took up the post without any breaking in and within just a few days’ time. during the ten months i’ve been here i’ve undergone several professional training programs, which ensures high quality service.”
what is your job of purchasing manager all about?
“informat systems is made up of five professional departments and i’m in charge of purchasing, which is fused with the logistics department. my job entails locating products and suppliers from all fields of computing, executing purchasing orders and tracking deliveries, certifying delivery receipts and keeping tack of existing stock. i’m subordinate to informat’s ceos and work with the sales department and the suppliers. i’m very attached to my job, which offers dynamism and action while working with advanced technology.”
what kind of a company is informat systems in terms of the atmosphere and character?
“informat is like a small family that i really enjoy working with. it’s a professional company that excels in its field and in the warm work environment it creates. i’m happy i had the luck to get hired at a place where i can articulate myself professionally and as an individual.”
what are the differences between a large, extensive organization and a relatively small company?
“i feel that at informat i’m more visible and receive more encouragement and appreciation for my work, which gives me a greater sense of gratification. my areas of responsibility have expanded now that the company has authorized me to carry out all of its regular purchasing. informat also has professional work groups from a range of computer fields, which exposes me to many different fields and allows me to develop professionally every day.”
would you call your match with informat a success?
“certainly. the company has dealt with me very warmly and i work productively with the other employees on the staff. the volume and complexity of my work has grown and i’ve been given a lot of authority and responsibility. informat focuses on very highly advanced technology, it has a young work environment and i’m very pleased here. i definitely see myself growing together with the company and working at informat for many years to come.”
toni eliyahu, human resources manager, to what extent has your cooperation with jobnet contributed to the organization?
“this is our second year of working with the jobnet site, which we consider one of our primary recruitment sources.
due to the large exposure it affords, the number of resumes we receive is enormous and allows us to choose the people best suited to the positions that become available.”
