how did you conduct your search for a new job considering you had no experience?
after finishing my army service, during which i specialized in networks management,
i decided to gain experience in computers before enrolling for studies in the field to provide me more comprehensive knowledge of computer science. also, the networks management training i received in the army afforded me an advantage in the job market and a short time after sending my resume out i got hired by hot.
michael reifman, operations and control engineer
how did you conduct the search process?
first i focused my resume so that even though i was coming with no real civilian experience in operations i had an advantage over other candidates. i sent my resume both to companies i found through job-search websites and newspaper ads.
what drew you to operations and control?
on jobnet i came across a job at the hot network operation center (noc). the job of noc operator sounded like a challenging task that carried a lot of responsibility and that would allow me to advance following my army job. the noc is manned 24 hours a day and provides constant control over the company’s facility and infrastructures.
what considerations did you take into account in looking for work?
i applied mostly for administrative jobs in the field of information systems, with the intention of finding work as a network manager. when i came across the job offer at hot i saw it also involved an ability to control systems similar to network management, and decided to look into the matter.
i had several hard and fast criteria, including good pay and work conditions. no less important to me was how employees were treated by the managers and by the company in general.
did you look into other options?
i went to quite a few job interviews, though i rejected the majority. when i came to the hot assessment center i immediately fell in love with the place. during the interviews with my immediate supervisors and more senior managers i got to know people of exceptional character and professionalism. each of the interviews brought me to a singular conclusion: that i really liked the company and wanted to get hired as an operations and control worker.
what does the job entail?
my job includes oversight and control of hot infrastructures. i solve glitches by working from the control room, and when necessary i’m in charge of summoning a network technician to the source of the problem in order to solve it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
do you feel you really have advanced professionally since coming here?
hot is a serious company that invests in its employees and makes them feel safe and secure. throughout the hiring and integration process i received warm, individual treatment. after each interview i received a phone call on the same day with a positive response and an invitation to the next interview, while at other companies i was left hanging for days before receiving any response. also, this is a company with a lot of good vibes and a lot of adrenaline flowing. some of the people here are really incredible and talented. my co-workers received me with warmth and smiles, which put me at ease every step of the way.
would you describe your match with hot as a success?
definitely! when i first got started at hot my knowledge of networks was limited, but today i feel i’ve developed a lot and my know-how has grown considerably. i definitely see myself developing at the company and continuing to work here over the long term. i’m very pleased with my job, with the positive atmosphere that infuses the staff and the encouragement and help i get from the other workers and my direct supervisors.
do you have any advice for jobseekers?
i guess the best advice i could give is to be patient and not give up. it took me just a few weeks to find a job that had what i was looking for. i’m sure somewhere out there the right job is waiting for you, too.
oded avraham, manager of phone interviews and recruitment sources at hot, how much does your collaboration with jobnet contribute to your work?
i’m happy to say this is a winning combination. the candidates that come to us through the site are high-caliber people suited to the positions hot offers. this applies to our field jobs, particularly during the current period of the transformation in service proclaimed by hot ceo mr. herzl ozer. it also applies to other areas, including technology, management and headquarters. throughout the broad spectrum of positions we offer candidates, we see jobnet as a loyal partner.
