founded in 1998, the fattah hotels chain is a young, developing company that currently manages 14 hotels around the country, including le meridien eilat, magic plus, golden tulip club eilat, club med eilat, magic sunrise club, royal tulip eilat, le meridien dead sea, tulip inn sea of galilee, golden tulip club tiberius, le meridien haifa and golden tulip negev in be'er sheva. the chain's hotels are located from north to south, on the shores of the mediterranean, the kinneret, the red sea and the dead sea, and operate based on a variety of innovative concepts.
"since my discharge to the present i've acquired experience as administration head at a range of jobs, such as supersol, where i was the branch manager's secretary, and as a receptionist at a securities company. at every company i was consistent and gave the best of my abilities. about a week after submitting my resignation i got hired at the fattal hotels chain."

why did you decide to leave?
"my responsibilities at my previous job included brokering and managing properties in south tel aviv. due to the pleasant atmosphere and the great manager i was subordinate to, i felt trapped in a work routine that wasn't contributing to me. the job involved dealing with a difficult segment of the population, and a lot of paperwork, so after consulting with my immediate supervisor i decided to leave. we parted amiably and still keep in touch."
what were your criteria when you set out in search of a job?
"first of all i was looking for a stable workplace with a warm atmosphere where i'd be able to have an impact and make a contribution. since work takes up a significant part of our lives, i tried to find a job and a company that would make me get up in the morning with a smile on my face. i also checked into the opportunities for internal mobility at potential workplaces, the location of the organization and other factors."
how did your job-hunting go?
"in order to totally devote myself to the task of looking for the right position, i left my prior job. based on a friend's recommendation i took a look at the jobnet site and sent resumes far and wide in reply to ads for jobs in administration. on that same day i received responses from five companies, including an attorneys' office, a company in bat yam right near where i live and the fattal hotels chain."
why did you wind choosing fattal hotels?
"as soon as i stepped into the office complex i fell in love with the company. while waiting for the interview i noticed the smiling people and the colorful décor. the work had an atmosphere of vacationing and fun, with positive energy and relaxed surroundings. these and other reasons led me to immediately reach a decision that this was where i wanted to work. i was interviewed by nili levy, the personal assistant to the vice president of marketing, who is in charge of administration. we held an open and flowing conversation during which nili spoke with me candidly about the advantages and disadvantages of the job, as well as the pay and employment terms. right away they told me i'd been hired and two days later i started working."
how did your first days at the company go?
"on the first day i was given a warm welcome by carmit ada, who is in charge of administration work along with me. today she's not just a colleague but a good friend as well. i also felt a lot of encouragement from the other employees, who welcomed me to the job. during the breaking-in period i was given help and support for each and every question. carmit provided me full information and demonstrated a lot of patience. with her help i settled into the job within a week's time and today we work together in harmony."
what kind of a company is fattal hotels in terms of the atmosphere and the people?
"the fattal hotels headquarters, which is located at azrieli towers, is a colorful workplace with a young, dynamic feel. people enjoy coming in to work. there are a lot of women working at the headquarters, but we don't have schemes and intrigues. everybody encourages everybody else and helps out. there's also a sense of company pride in belonging to the fattal hotel chain, and morale here is really high."
what do you do as head of administration?
"i work at the reception desk of the fattal offices and take care of administrative tasks, headquarters management, marketing and more. working at headquarters is really dynamic and involves various fields since fattal is a large, prominent chain. every day is different. my job involves answering a wide range of calls and working with the public. i also do marketing. we work with assaf ben dov, the director of sales for the chain, who manages issues of pricing for the chain."
are you pleased with your job and with the company?
"definitely. i plan to be at the chain for years to come and hope to advance in the future, perhaps in the direction of sales or hotel operations. the tourism industry really fascinates me. compared to my previous jobs, fattal is a chain that strives to accommodate the employees. you can tell they put a lot into company activities and the employment terms here are excellent. i think this is the start of a fabulous relationship."
what advice can you offer other jobseekers?
"don't give up and think positive."
shani abutbol, assistant to the vice president of human resources, on the fattal hotel chain's collaboration with the jobnet site:
